SAS Nagar :
To mark the closing ceremony of the campaign Punjab against Drugs Addiction – An initiative by Punjab State Legal Services Authority, a walkathon was organized by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar in Phase-3B1, Sector-60, Mohali in collaboration with Departments of Police and Health and students of Government Senior Secondary School Phase-3B1, Sector-60, Mohali. A legal awareness programme was also organized in the school in which Sh. Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar motivated the students to join games and stay away from drugs. To promote the culture of sports, competition of 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter and 800 meter running was organized in the School. The students who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd were felicitated by Ld. District & Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar.
Sh. Baljinder Singh Maan, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar revealed that the campaign was launched on 01.10.2023 as per directions of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority and was carried out during the entire month of October, 2023 to make the people aware that Legal Services Authorities are committed to take all the victims of drug abuse to Rehabilitation Centre for helping them to get rid of the menace and to join the main-stream as responsible citizens.
Counselling sessions for individuals struggling with drug abuse and their families were arranged. In all, 332 individuals approached the de-addiction centre out of which 20 were admitted in the Rehabilitation Centre of the District from 01.10.2023 to 31.10.2023 after being motivated by the
campaign which is a big achievement. Besides, awareness workshops were organized in 25 schools and 02 colleges
