A national seminar on Dayanand Saraswati’s contributions to Indian knowledge traditions is going be to held at the Panjab University on 29th and 30th January 2024. This two-day national seminar is being organised by PU’s Sanskrit department as a part of the celebrations of the 200th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati. Theme of this seminar is ‘Bharatiya Gyan-Parampara ki Samriddhi mein Dayanand Saraswati ka avadan’. Prof. Somdev Shatanshu, Vice Chancellor of Gurukul Kangri Vishvavidyalya Haridwar, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Shastri, Vice chancellor of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Abhiraja Rajendra Mishra and other renowned scholars will be gracing the occasion.
Speaking about the seminar and its theme, Academic Incharge of PU’s Sanskrit department Prof. V. K. Alankar said, “it was only when Swami Dayanand Saraswati began to preach the Vedic and Shastric wisdom, that a new era of self-esteem among Indians began.” He added that the current era of self-esteem has again begun with the Pran-Pratishtha of Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir. Prof. Alankar said that the vice chancellor of Panjab University Prof. Renu Vig has taken a great interest in promoting Sanskrit and Vedic studies since the day she took over charge. Prof. Rumina Sethi, DUI has also been supporting the cause of Sanskrit.
No prior registration is required for attending the seminar or presenting research papers aligned with the theme of the seminar. The seminar will begin at 10:00 am on 29th January 2024, at the Golden Jubilee Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh
