Chandigarh: An unbeaten 253-run partnership between Balraj Singh and Tejvir followed by lethal bowling attack led by Nikhil helped UT boys to consolidate their position against Tripura at the ongoing Cooch Behar match being played at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Saturday. Chandigarh declared its innings at 491/6 while Tripura dismissed six players for just 66 runs on the second day. Earlier, Chandigarh resumed its overnight score of 257/5 with Balraj Singh and Tejvir as both batters exploited opposition bowlers all across the park. Later, Tejvir scored his century. Both batters scored 253 runs off 325 balls wherein Tejvir contributed 153 runs in 148 balls with 25 boundaries and one sixer. Chandigarh declared its innings with unbeaten Balraj’s double century. Balraj scored 200 runs in 445 balls, which included 33 fours. For Tripura, Bishal Sinha (3/57) took three wickets.
In reply, Nikhil disrupted Tripura’s start. Nikhil took three wickets in his single spell of skipper Deepjoy Deb (4), Dibangshu Dutta (6) and Saptajit Das (0). Thereafter, Paras dismissed Deepankar Bhatnagar with 54/4 on the board. Later, Ishan Gaba dismissed Shayan Saha (4) while Nikhil (4/14) took Arkajit Rai (0) as his fourth wicket. At the end of the day’s play, Tripura scored 66/6 runs.
