Punjab Accelerates Link Road Upgradation; 40,103 km Network Being Revamped

DPB, Mohali, February 11:
Punjab Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian said the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government is rapidly upgrading nearly 40,103 km of link roads across the state to strengthen connectivity and infrastructure.

Laying the foundation stone of the Durali-Manauli and Dairri-Chaomajra link road at Durali village near Mohali, in the presence of MLA Kulwant Singh, the Minister stated that 22,074 km of roads are being repaired by the Punjab Mandi Board, while the remaining network is being handled by the PWD.

He said the 3.66-km road will be upgraded at a cost of Rs 188.15 lakh, widened from 10 feet to 18 feet, and linked to the Sector-82 PR-7 road. Emphasising welfare initiatives, he noted the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana provides cashless treatment up to Rs 10 lakh, while free electricity up to 600 units every two months has benefited residents, with 86% consumers receiving zero bills. He added that around 64,000 government jobs have been provided on merit.

MLA Kulwant Singh thanked the Minister for approving 60 link roads in Mohali, saying the project will ease traffic and include a five-year maintenance guarantee. He also promised a community centre and improved irrigation facilities for residents.
