In his welcome address, Prof. Gurpal Singh, Academic Incharge of the Department said that Sikh Tradition and Sikh Studies have its distinct place in the academic field. We have to adopt novel methodologies and techniques in this field. We have to take inspiration and sources from the Sikh tradition and Guru Granth Sahib.
In his main address, Prof. Mann said that Sikh study is a diverse and in-depth field. We need to revisit the Sikh tradition. Guru Granth Sahib and Guru Tradition have a valuable treasure of Knowledge, teaching, ethos, inspiration, to the whole world. He urged the immediate need of conservation and preservation of Sikh tradition, culture and heritage. Our academy must revisit its own roots and try to recreate our own history, culture and tradition in its own terms.
Prof. Ronki Ram of Department of Political Science, Panjab University Chandigarh said that Sikh tradition and Sikh studies need to revisit the tradition and have to be ready for the changes happening around us.
Dr. Sheena Pall, Dr. Parveen Kumar, Dr. Harmail Singh, Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Rajeev Kumar, Mr. Parmveer Singh, Ms. Veerpal Kaur, Mr. Charanjit Singh, Mr. Amandeep Singh Bhogal and many others express their views.
