Massive Protest Held in Front of TDI Office Demanding Construction of PR-6 Road

Massive Protest Held in Front of TDI Office Demanding Construction of PR-6 Road

If construction does not begin, a protest will be held in front of the PUDA office on 1 April 2026.

Mohali : Under the banner of CORWAS (Committee of Resident Welfare Associations and Societies, Mega Mohali), various organizations of mega projects held a massive protest in front of the head office of TDI under the leadership of Rajwinder Singh Sarao. The protest was organized against the delay in the construction of the PR-6 road. Hundreds of affected residents participated in the protest.

The government has already spent around ₹200 crores on this road, yet the construction has not begun due to the tactics of the builder. At the same time, the builder has installed large hoardings regarding the PR-6 road and continues to mislead people. The builder allegedly intends to acquire land in this area at cheaper rates. For this reason, attempts are being made to prolong the ongoing court case through various excuses.

The builder had already accepted the road policy formulated in 2015; therefore, there was no justification to approach the court. It appears that the court proceedings have been used only to delay the construction of the road. Large hoardings regarding the road are still visible, but the builder himself is creating obstacles to its construction.

As a result, residents are being forced to live in unhygienic conditions. Dirty water accumulates on the proposed road site and the movement of people and vehicles is severely affected.

The leaders alleged that the builder, in collusion with certain officials of GMADA/PUDA, is misleading the public. Therefore, CORWAS has decided that on April 1 (April Fool’s Day), a massive protest will be held in front of the main office of PUDA/GMADA.

The leaders of CORWAS strongly urged the Punjab Government, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, and Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian to ensure that construction of the road begins immediately without any further delay so that residents of the area can get relief from their problems.

The stage proceedings were conducted very efficiently by Principal Manohar Lal Sharma. Those who addressed the gathering included Pal Singh Rattu, Rajwinder Singh Sarao, Bhupinder Singh Saini, Advocate Gaurav Goyal, Jasvir Singh Garang, Sukhjinder Singh, Budh Singh, Surinder Singh, Anil Parashar, Daljit Singh Saini, Harbans Singh, Kanwar Singh Gall, Sumiksha Sood, Manoj Sharma, Amarjit Singh, Raman Deep Singh, Paramjit Singh, Surinder Singh, Sadhu Singh, Sant Singh, Karamjit Singh Sidhu, Sanjeev Soni, Amit Ubrai and other prominent leaders.
