Mann Welcomes Asian Champions Trophy Teams, Says Punjab’s Doors Open to All
JALANDHAR, OCTOBER 28: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday welcomed participating teams of the Asian Champions Trophy at a dinner hosted at his residence in Jalandhar, assuring players and officials of the state’s hospitality and support.
Addressing the teams, Mann said Punjab was known for its rich cultural heritage, sporting traditions and spirit of brotherhood. He said the state wanted every player and official to leave with lasting memories of their visit.
“Punjab is not merely a geographical territory; it is a land defined by sacrifice, courage, hard work and humanity,” the Chief Minister said, highlighting the contributions of Punjab’s freedom fighters, farmers and soldiers to the country.
Mann said hosting the Asian Champions Trophy was an opportunity to strengthen Punjab’s presence on the international sporting map and showcase its cultural heritage and sporting potential.
He said the tournament could encourage young people to take up sports, promote fitness and discipline, and inspire emerging athletes to compete at national and international levels.
Emphasising the role of sports in bringing people together, Mann said sporting events transcended boundaries of language, culture and nationality. He urged the participating teams to uphold sportsmanship and use the championship to promote friendship and mutual respect.
The Chief Minister said arrangements had been made for the smooth conduct of the tournament and the comfortable stay of participating teams. He added that the event could also create opportunities for sports tourism and youth development in the state.
Mann wished all teams success in the championship and expressed hope that their stay in Punjab would foster lasting friendships and memorable experiences.
