Joint Enforcement Drive Against Single-Use Plastic Conducted in Mohali
6 challans issued; around 9 kg banned plastic seized and environmental compensation imposed

A joint enforcement drive against the use of Single-Use Plastic (SUP) was conducted in Mohali city today by Ms. Muskan, Junior Environmental Engineer (JEE), Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB), and Sh. Sanjeev, Chief Sanitary Inspector, Municipal Corporation (MC), Mohali.
During the drive, the enforcement team inspected commercial establishments and sensitised shopkeepers and members of the public about the prohibition on Single-Use Plastic. They were also encouraged to adopt environment-friendly alternatives in place of banned plastic items.
During the inspections, six challans were issued and approximately 9 kg of banned Single-Use Plastic was seized. Environmental compensation was also imposed on the violators as per the applicable provisions.
The enforcement team appealed to all citizens, shopkeepers and commercial establishments to strictly comply with the ban on Single-Use Plastic and extend their cooperation in keeping Mohali clean, green and plastic-free.
The team further emphasised that collective public participation and responsible disposal practices are essential for protecting the environment and ensuring a cleaner and healthier city.
