Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi Writes to Commissioner Over Heaps of Garbage and Debris in Mohali
DPB, Mohali, Feburery 13: Regarding the increasing garbage in Mohali city and the debris lying on roads after the demolition drive, Kuljit Singh Bedi, Deputy Mayor Mohali, has written a letter to Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh Sandhu.
In the letter, he stated that heaps of garbage are lying at various places in several areas of the city, and even after the recent demolition drive, debris is still scattered on the roads, causing serious inconvenience to the general public.
The Deputy Mayor pointed out that as per court orders, joint action was taken by the Mohali Municipal Corporation and GMADA, but no proper attention was given towards the clearance of debris. People are continuously contacting the councillors, while the corporation is not making immediate arrangements.
He further said that mechanical cleaning arrangements have been stopped on several roads in the city, due to which the sanitation situation is worsening. At the site, neither sufficient staff are visible nor is the number of trolleys adequate.
Deputy Mayor Bedi has demanded that the debris left after the demolition drive should be lifted immediately, daily cleaning of markets and roads should be ensured, and the number of sanitation workers should be increased.
He also stated that the same speed with which the demolition and encroachment removal drive was carried out, the cleaning work should also be done with equal urgency, because along with removing encroachments from government land, cleaning the garbage and debris lying at those places is also the responsibility of the corporation, which had been lying there even before the drive.
The Deputy Mayor expressed hope that the municipal administration will take this matter seriously and take prompt action so that the residents of the city can get relief.
