Day 4 of the Art & Cultural Fest ‘2023 at BVB showcases euphonious performances

           A Mesmerizing Amalgamation of Music and Dance fascinates the audience!

 Chandigarh: The 2nd Art & Cultural Fest ’23 organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, in collaboration with Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra, continued to spellbind its audience with its artistically curated performances on the fourth day of the week-long fest.  

Dr. Neelam Man Singh Chowdhry, Professor Emeritus at Panjab University, Chandigarh, presided over the function as the Chief Guest.  A renowned theatre director, Dr Chowdhry, is the proud recipient of several awards including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2003, and the Padmashri in 2011. Her well-known plays include Kitchen Katha, The Suit, Yerma, Black Box and Trunk Tales to name a few.

 The Guests of Honour for the day were Sh. R. K. Saboo, Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, Ms Nagalakshmi Rao, Member, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru KendraSh. Manmohan Kohli, Chairman, Cultural Committee, Ms Neenu Vij, Member, Organizing Committee, Sh. Madhukar Malhotra, Honorary Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra.Various other dignitaries and esteemed members of Tricity’s erudite circles also graced the occasion.

The event commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest. The evening was a perfect blend of artistically woven melodies and folk dances that successfully captured the essence of the theme of the fest ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. 

SAMVAD, by Sh. Subhash Ghosh, along with Shiv Sameer, Vipul Shah, Arjit Singh, Shubham Semwal, Rajneesh Kumar and Bantry Arya beautifully showcased the power of music in uniting people from all across the world.

The Mystical Mountain Melodies, presented by the duo Mr. Amit Sharma, a rising star of Rajasthan Idol, and Ms. Rishampreet Kaur, the recipient of the Best Singer Award at GCB Una (Shimla), added to the overall charm of the week-long cultural fest.

The evening reached its ultimate crescendo when the artists from Chandigarh University impressed the audience with their spectacular display of folk dances from diverse countries. The day also saw the continuation of ‘Art Matters – An Exhibition of Art Works’ showcasing the works of promising artists of the region. 

The Chief Guest, Dr. Neelam Man Singh Chowdhry, appreciated the efforts of Infosys Foundation, Bengaluru and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh and Bengaluru Kendras in providing a platform to the talented artists and thinking of a theme that imbued hope and aspiration at a time when there is a lot of darkness and strife in the world. The programme drew to a close with the Chief Guest felicitating the artists and congratulating them for the stellar performances. 

The Art & Cultural Fest ’23 concludes on the 22nd of October, 2023, with different performances every day and the programme of each day is also being telecast live on the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh and Bengaluru YouTube channels.
