Chandigarh: Captain Arjun Azad’s knock of 112 runs led to a five-wicket win over Vidarbha at the ongoing BCCI Under-23 ODI tournament being played in Rajkot. This was Chandigarh’s fourth win in six matches so far. The team’s last match is against Hyderabad on 9 November.
Earlier, Vidarbha won the toss and decided to bat first and put 289/6 on the board with the help of unbeaten centurion Maleshwar (118) and two half-centuries from Mokhade (52) and Jagjot (50). Amit Shukla (3/59) was the pick of the bowlers. In reply, Chandigarh got off to a dismal start when Nehal Pajni (1) left early. Later, skipper Arjun Azad and Harnoor Singh brought relief to the team with a partnership of 122 runs. Harnoor scored 63 runs followed by Arjun’s dismissal (112) reducing the side at 225/5. An unbeaten 66 runs partnership between Chiragvir Dhindsa and Pratham brought the team home in 48th over with the loss of five wickets. Dhindsa scored 35 while Pratham added 31 runs.
