Senior Congress Leader and Former Cabinet Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu lauded five guarantees announced by former Indian National Congress president Rahul Gandhi for the women of the country.
Sidhu shared that the five ‘Nari Nyay Guarantees’ include Mahalaxmi, Aadhi Abadi-Pura Haq, Shakti ka Samman, Adhikar Maitri and Savitribai Phule Hostels scheme. He said: “The Congress has always believed that the country cannot progress without empowering women. That is why the party has come up with five remarkable guarantees for women in particular.”
The Congress leader said the Mahalaxmi guarantee involves providing Rs 1 lakh per year to a woman from a poor family. “The guarantee will allow women to become financially independent. Moreover, Aadhi Aabaadi-Pura Haq will ensure a 50% share/rights of women in new appointments of the central govt he said.
Sidhu said these five guarantees will become the game changer in the forthcoming lok sabha election. He stated that these are not just guarantees but indeed are ‘Patthar ki Lakir’, bound to be delivered to the beneficiaries without fail. Sidhu said we congressmen not just promise but we believe in delivering as well.
He urged the people of Punjab to support the Congress in securing 13 LS seats, emphasizing the importance of revitalizing Punjab’s condition. He criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his cabinet for failing to deliver on their pre-election promises. He remarked that the AAP’s situation is in turmoil and that people have lost faith in the party, a sentiment he believes will soon be confirmed.
