Chandigarh: An unbeaten ton from Anmolpreet Singh helped Punjab to kick off with a solid start with 307/2 against host Chandigarh on the opening day of the Ranji Trophy match being played at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Friday.
Earlier, visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. Jagjit Singh Sandhu drew the first blood in the very first over when he trapped Vishwa Pratap Singh (8) with LBW.
Later, Naman Dheer stitched a partnership of 162 runs with Anmolpreet Singh. Dheer departed after scoring 86 runs who was accounted to Hartejasswi Singh.
Centurion Anmolpreet once again proved vital with an unbeaten 137-run partnership with new batter Prabhsimran Singh. Anmolpreet Singh scored 132 runs with the help of 18 boundaries while at the other end, Prabhsimran Singh added unbeaten 76 runs with eight boundaries and two sixes.
