CU student Gurjot Singh Jaswal the sole recipient of DG NCC Commendation Card 2024 across Punjab; recommended for Indian Army Officer Cadre by Service Selection Board
In a momentous occasion, a Chandigarh University (CU) student, Gurjot Singh Jaswal, has been bestowed with the prestigious DG NCC Commendation Card for his Meritorious Services by the Director General of National Cadet Corps (DG NCC) Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM. Moreover, he has been recently recommended by the Service Selection Board (SSB) for the Officer Cadre in the Indian Army.
Gurjot Singh Jaswal – a Cadet Senior Under Officer and NCC Cadet of 23 PB BN NCC Ropar – has received DG NCC Commendation Card for his outstanding acts and performance in the NCC. He has exemplified dedication and a spirit of service towards the community throughout his three-year tenure.
During the last three years, Gurjot actively participated in numerous social initiatives, including Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Swachhata Pakhwada, Drug Awareness, Tree Plantation, and Fit India, showcasing his unwavering spirit of service towards the community. He has also been actively involved in NCC camping activities, such as Firing, Drill, Field Craft, and Battle Craft, reflecting his exceptional leadership and teamwork skills.
Gurjot, who hails from Surat in Gujarat, is a final-year student of B.E. Computer Science Engineering at Chandigarh University. Besides excelling in the academics, Gurjot has an active member of IEEE, Computer Society of India (CSI) at Chandigarh University and participated in academic conferences and workshops throughout the course. He has also proved his mettle, and bagged a lucrative job offer from a leading Multinational Company (MNC).
While expressing gratitude towards Chandigarh University, he said, “Chandigarh University not only offers high-quality education but also nurtures an environment that fosters students’ engagement in social service and other extracurricular activities. It is the support from the university that enables students to not only excel academically but also emerge as effective leaders and achieve milestones in various domains like NCC. Expressing delight over Gurjot’s achievement, Chancellor of Chandigarh University and Rajya Sabha MP, Satnam Singh Sandhu, congratulated him and urged him to continue working dedicatedly and rise to greater heights.

Gurjot is the only student from across all the universities in Punjab to have received the DG NCC Commendation Card in 2024.
