In his letter, he pointed out that a case had already been filed in the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court regarding the road adjoining the Phase-6 Bus Stand, following which directions were issued to the concerned authorities. He further stated that he had already held two meetings with GMADA officials and representatives of the bus stand company on this matter, but no improvement has been seen so far.
According to the Deputy Mayor, the Phase-6 road is riddled with large potholes and has caved in at several places, severely affecting traffic movement and posing a serious risk of accidents. He demanded that immediate premix carpeting be carried out on the road under GMADA’s jurisdiction and that proper street lighting be installed, as the absence of lights during nighttime further aggravates the situation.
He also highlighted that the work to widen the road from Kumbra to Bawa White House has been pending for the past two years. The current condition of the road is deplorable, with deep potholes increasing the likelihood of accidents. He urged that immediate premix work be undertaken and that the pending development works be completed without further delay.
The Deputy Mayor appealed for the personal intervention of the Chief Administrator to ensure swift action on both issues, so that residents can get relief and traffic movement can function smoothly.
