The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its anti-corruption campaign, has nabbed a revenue Patwari Nachattar Singh, posted at revenue halqua, Ablowal, Patiala district red handed for demanding a bribe of Rs 4,000.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said this case has been registered against the above said revenue official on the complaint of Lachman Dass, a resident Rivas Bhramna in Patiala district.
Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said Patwari has demanded Rs 4,000 as a bribe in lieu of mutation of his land after the demise of his father.
The spokesperson further added that the VB unit of Patiala range has investigated the allegations levelled in the complaint and laid a trap in which the accused Patwari has been arrested red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case has been registered under prevention of corruption act at VB police station Patiala against the above mentioned revenue official. He would be produced in the competent court tomorrow. Further investigation in this case was under progress, he informed.
