CHANDIGARH: The Chief Minister’s residence at Patiala would be cordoned off due to the demand of Punjab State AIDS Control Employees Welfare Regularization.
A meeting of the staff of the State Headquarters was held in this regard. The Vice President of the Association Jasmeel Singh Deol and Cashier Gurjant Singh specially attended the meeting. Meanwhile, a five-member core committee was constituted at the state headquarters comprising Surinder Singh, Manish Kumar, Rajan Kumar, Ramandeep Kaur and Ashu Garg. The core committee assured that they stood by the association and that the field/hospital staff as well as the staff at the state headquarters would join the protest.
The core committee said that Capt. Amarinder Singh had promised to persuade the employees. But when the government came into power, the employees were given nothing but sticks. Now, after four-and-a-half year, the conditions for regularisation have been laid down. A number of 66000 employees are are supposed to regularised by following the conditions laid, while according to these even 6600 employees cannot be regularized. Regarding the regularization of employees, a panel meeting was held with the Health Minister, Punjab, in which the Health Minister assured that he would send a draft of the demands to the Committee of Officers (set for regularisation process) to consider the demands. The draft have been submitted to the Committee, but even after a month, no solution could be found. The Core Committe said that due to breach of promise by Capt. Amarinder Singh the assosiation is compelled to lay siege to his residence at Patiala on August 17. All the staff of the State Headquarters were present on the occasion
