Rithwik’s ton consolidates UT boys with 450/7, Bihar struggling at 255/5 on day 2 at VMT

 

Chandigarh: An unbeaten century knock from Rithwik Sood helped UT boys to consolidate their position against Bihar as Chandigarh declared at the mammoth of 450/7 on the second day of the Vijay Merchant Trophy match being played at Pune on Tuesday.

 Chandigarh while resuming their overnight score from 378/7 and added another 72 runs to declare their inning. Feature of the inning was Rithwik Sood who scored 107 runs off 64 balls with the help of nine boundaries and eight sixes while Kuldeep Yadav added unbeaten 51 runs. Mohit Kumar (4/154) took four wickets.

 

Bihar’s start was spoiled by Gaganpreet Singh and Ankan Latka as they destroyed the team’s top order – Ganesh Chauhan (7), Prince Kumar (21) and Kumar Shan (41) with 70/3  on board. Later Latka added more woes to opponents when he trapped LBW Dhananjay Kumar (12) at 93/4. A 71-run partnership between Animesh Raj and skipper Adarsh Sinha recovered the team to 164. Gaganpreet took the third wicket in the form of Animesh (21) and reduced the half side at 164. Sinha once again proved vital as he stitched yet another massive partnership of 91 runs with Laliteshwar and took the score to 255/5 before the stumps were drawn. Sinha scored 78 while Laliteshwar added 58 runs. Gaganpreet (3/124) took three wickets while Ankan Latka (2/19) clinched two. Bihar is still trailing by 195 runs.
