HP and Gujarat also won their matches
Chandigarh: With a 38-run defeat to Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan continued their dominance in the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament with three consecutive wins. In a league match played at Mahajan Cricket Ground, Andhra Pradesh won the toss and decided to field first. Rajasthan scored 290 runs with a magnificent ton from Abhijeet Tomar (124) and half-century of BR Chauhan (52). In reply, Andhra Pradesh was all out for 252 runs. Hanumant Vihari (60) and Ashwin Hebbar (68) scored half-centuries. From the opposition side, AV Choudhary took a maximum four wickets.
Meanwhile, in a match played at the Cricket Stadium, Sector 16, Gujarat defeated UP by five wickets. UP, which was struggling at 65/5 at one time, was compensated by 111 runs partnership from Dhruv and Saurabh steering the team to a respectable 232/8 runs. Dhruv scored 77 runs while Saurabh added 43 runs. CT Gaja took four wickets. In reply, Gujarat achieved the target with the help of unbeaten Kshitij Patel (83) and Urvil Patel (86) in the 38th over at the loss of five wickets.
In a one-sided match played at GMSS School, Sector 26, Himachal Pradesh registered an eight-wicket victory over Assam. Assam succumbed to 121 against Mayank Dagger (4/20) and Rishi Dhawan (4/30). Later, HP batters – unbeaten SL Verma (51) and Ekant Sen (42) made the way easier for the team and registered their second win of the tournament in the 17th over by losing two wickets.
