Chandigarh;
Association For Democratic Rights (AFDR), Punjab’ Chandigarh/Mohali unit, Punjab Students Union (Lalkaar), Students for Solidarity and AISA jointly organized a photo exhibition and protest gathering at Panjab University Chandigarh’s Student Center in solidarity with the Palestinian people against the attacks on Palestine and their ongoing genocide by Israel.
In a press statement issued by the AFDR Chandigarh Unit’s General Secretary Manpreet Singh, District Committee Member Vipin, and Press Secretary Aman mentioned that since October 7, Israel has escalated the genocide of innocent Palestinian people. Israel has been using the attack by Hamas, a Palestinian resistance group, as a false pretext to target innocent Palestinians. Hospitals, refugee camps, and residential areas inhabited by innocent people, especially children, have been subjected to mass killings.
So far, more than 11,000 innocent people have been killed, including approximately half being children. The support from international community, especially from USA, leader of their block, has emboldened Israel in its aggressive invasion.
Speaking at the protest rally, AFDR’s General Secretary Manpreet Singh stated that Israel is an invader which has not only reduced Palestine to a small strip of land by occupying most of its territory but has also ruthlessly committed numerous massacres against innocent Palestinian people for decades.
He emphasized that the imperialist nations and their media is justifying this Israeli invasion as a reaction to Hamas’s action. Whereas, the reality is that Hamas’s attack was not any baseless attack, rather it was instigated by the killings of about 250 Hamas members in West Bank and the demolition of world-renowned historic Al Aqsa Mosque by Israeli forces.
Jobanpreet form PSU (Lalkaar) said that the the struggle of the people of Palestine is a fight for the liberation of their motherland and condemned Israeli attack as a terrorist invasion. Israel’s support by USA and other imperialists is their support to terrorism and genocide.
Sandeep from SFS stated that the protest aims to raise a strong voice in unison with the democratic and just voices being raised globally in support of the people of Palestine.
Soumya, a member of the AISA, expressed deep concern over the large-scale killings in Gaza and termed support from the imperialists countries for Israel as shameful.
Zahid from the History Department also addressed the gathering. The press secretary of AFDR, Aman, conducted the stage.
