Chandigarh: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh, today celebrated its 102nd-foundation day and entered into its 103rd year in the immense presence of our Chief Guest Madam Hargunjit Kaur (IAS), Secretary Technical Education; along with Prof. Baldev Setia, Director, PEC; Prof. Siby John, Deputy Director, PEC; Dr. Vasundhara Singh (Dean Faculty Affairs); Dr. Rajesh Bhatia (Dean Academic Affairs) and Dr. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC) also graced the occasion.
The event started with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp and Saraswati Vandana. After the Inaugural ceremony Prof. Baldev Setia, Director PEC formally welcomed and felicitated our Chief Guest, Madam Hargunjit Kaur (IAS).
The session progressed with a detailed documentary on the historic legacy of PEC and the various research activities performed by the community in the recent past.
Moving Forward, Dr. Rajesh Bhatia (DAA), gave a detailed presentation on various academic achievements of PEC. Various UG, PG and PhD programs offered in the institution, increment in number of admissions every year. Facilities and opportunities available to students which results in their overall skill and career development.
Afterwards, Dr. Vasundhara Singhg (DFA) discussed the present position of the faculty positions of the institute and rapid speed and fair process of recruitment. She thanked the UT Administration and Director PEC Prof. Baldev Setia, inclusive of all the faculty members for this activity in the last 1.5 years. She also talked about various faculty welfare programs, their achievements in a variety of fields and contribution to the legacy of PEC.
Dr. Arun Kumar Singh (Head, SRIC) in his presentation briefed about the various projects and research activities performed by individual faculty members and departments of the institution. He also talked about the 5G Use Case Labs AND pec amongst the 31 Cohorts under the Semiconductor Mission of Govt. of India.
The Director of Punjab Engineering College, Prof. Baldev Setia, in his address, welcomed all the esteemed guests and all the faculty members present and to all the PEC family around the world a very warm congratulations on completing such glorious 102 years of education rooted in creativity, values and intellectual curiosity. He said, ‘Today PEC is 102 years old, It is easier said than easier to register. 102 years is by no means a small count. Today we are entering into our 103rd year. It takes a lot of effort to come upto to this level.” He also said that We have given this tagline,“TRADITION WE TRUST, EXCELLENCE WE ENVISION”.
He talked about the various achievements of PEC, including various new schemes of UG programs and PG programs, various collaborations with IIT Roorkee, IIT Mandi, Asia University of Taiwan and various others. He talked about the infrastructural developments of PEC.
Our esteemed Chief Guest, Madam Hargunjit Kaur (IAS), congratulated all the family members of PEC on completing 102 years of this glorious legacy. She said, ”I hope that when PEC celebrates its 200th year, people will talk about it with pride & glory and today we have to work for them to feel proud.” She also said that PEC has a heartwarming vibe, due to its variety of activities, its legacy of Alumni and levels of thoughts. She wishes all the members of faculty and students best of luck for being associated with such a prestigious institute.
