Chandigarh: A splendid bowling spell from Nishunk Birla helped UT boys to register their third win by thrashing Vidarbha by massive 261 runs at a Cooch Behar trophy match being played at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Monday.
Earlier, hosts added 20 more runs to its overnight score of 261/5 and declared its innings at 281/5. Unbeaten Aryan Verma scored 100 runs which studded with two sixes and nine boundaries while Ishan Gaba added 53 runs.
Vidarbha, who set out to chase the target of 365 runs, was seen struggling from the very beginning. Nishank Birla demolished the top order Aditya Ahuja (22), Aniket Askar (29), Shree Choudhary (5), Zubairuddin (5) and pushed Vidarbha on the backfoot with 77/5 on the board. Vidarbha never recovered from early blows and collapsed for 103 runs. Nishank (8/20) took a total of eight wickets while Nikhil (1/20) and Anmol Sharma (1/38) shared one wicket each.Chandigarh’s next match is against Mumbai from December 15 at Thane.
