Commission emphasized need for adequate security not only at churches but also during Shobha Yatras

Dr. Subhash Thoba, a member of the Punjab Minorities Commission, along with DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla, met in Chandigarh today to discuss security measures for the upcoming Christmas festival and associated Shobha Yatras.
Dr. Subhash Thoba highlighted the significance of Christmas for everyone and urged the police department to ensure sufficient security around churches statewide. He also emphasized the importance of securing Shobha Yatras conducted during Christmas.
He further mentioned that numerous criminal incidents have been committed by individuals with malicious intent against the Christian community in Punjab. As a result, he emphasized the need for robust security arrangements. Additionally, he pointed out that an incident in Amritsar had adversely affected the sentiments of the Christian community.
Assuring a proactive approach, the DGP stated during the meeting that security for churches during Christmas would be ensured and pending cases related to the Christian community would be promptly addressed. Professor Emmanuel Nahar, John Kotli, Baldev Randhawa and others were also present at the meeting.
