Chandigarh :
Describing state Congress Chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as a ‘chornic liar’, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday slammed him for misleading the people by his erroneous, malafide and mendacious statements.
In a statement issued here today, the Chief Minister said that Raja Warring is trying to hoodwink the facts just for scoring brownie points before the media. He said that the state government had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court to secure the interests of the state.
Citing the affidavit, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has submitted that the incentives by the Central Government for a period of 40 years had led to the adoption of the cultivation of paddy in the state which is providing remunerative pricing under minimum support price.
The Chief Minister further said that the affidavit has further submitted that in order to divert and diversify cropping pattern from paddy to other crops, assured minimum support price and other incentives will have to be provided to the farmers to make it viable for them to adopt other crops. Thus, he further said that the state government had pleaded that a sustainable campaign will be required for changing the behavioral pattern of the farmers.
Bhagwant Singh Mann said that his government had submitted that the implementation of these measures will go a long way in management of crop residue.
The Chief Minister said that instead of this Raja Warring is quoting some affidavit from his own ‘whims and fancies’ which reflects the non-serious attitude of the Congress MLA.
He said that the state Congress chief must remember that there is a huge difference between writing a letter for bodies of Buses and that of securing interests of state in Apex court. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this non-seriousness and hastiness has sunk the ship of Congress party.
