Activists of the Pendu Mazdoor Union Punjab on Wednesday staged protest at Dhahdowal office of the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited demanding relief for consumers from “huge” power bills being sent to them for the Coronavirus lockdown period. Union leader Gurbax Kaur led the protest and demanded that consumers be provided waivers on the fixed charges. “Shops and offices were closed and all business activities were shut during the lockdown. But people are still being sent huge electricity bills including fixed charges by the PSPCL. Union opposes it and demands its waiver,” said Kaur adding that that people from all sections in were worried about exorbitant electricity bills being charged despite low usage during the lockdown months.
