Bhagwant Mann should tell farmers why he is repeatedly back stabbing them: Bikram Singh Majithia
Chandigarh : Shiromani Akali Dal Senior leader Bikram Singh Majithia has termed stand of Bhagwant Mann led AAP government in Supreme Court on stopping MSP on Paddy as biggest betrayal with farmers even as party asked CM to tell farmers why his government is repeatedly back stabbing them.
In a statement issued here today, Mr. Bikram Singh Majithia said that stand of Punjab government in Supreme Court on issue of stubble burning has shocked all Punjabis. He said that Bhagwant Mann government has advocated discontinuing MSP on Paddy for farmers.
He said that earlier Bhagwant Mann had betrayed farmers by announcing MSP for Moong and when farmers showed faith in his words and sowed Moong in their farms, more than 85 percent of the produce was not procured on MSP and farmers were left on the mercy of private traders to sell their crop.
He said that this not the first time when Bhagwant Mann has betrayed farmers.
He repeatedly betrayed them on paying compensation for successive crop loss during last one and a half year. Later he betrayed them on purchasing Moong on MSP and this year he betrayed them on giving compensation for loss due to heavy floods they suffered during monsoon season.
He said that though CM Bhagwant Mann claims himself to be a son of a farmers, but he has repeatedly back stabbed farmers. He said that not even a single demand of farming fraternity has been met by him.
SAD leader said that after demanding stoppage of MSP on Paddy, Bhagwant Mann has ordered registration of cases against farmers who have burnt they paddy stubble as AAP government has failed to provide them requisite machinery for avoiding burning paddy straw.
Mr. Majithia reminded CM Bhagwant Mann that he has been elected CM by Punjabis and not by people of Delhi. So he should start working for welfare of Punjabis and Punjab farmers instead of taking stand that benefit his boss Arvind Kejriwal.
