AAP government will eradicate drug mafia, take stern action against patron political leaders and police officers: Harpal Singh Cheema
AAP leader urges people not to take law into their own hands
Reacting to the announcement of breaking the legs of drug smugglers by the residents of village Kaljharani, Harpal Singh Cheema, senior leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab and Leader of Opposition, said that due to incompetent governments of Congress and Akali (Badal) people are being forced to take law and order in their hands. Cheema appealed to the people of Punjab including village Kaljharani not to take any step outside the law and said that after March 10, the Aam Aadmi Party government would be formed in Punjab and AAP government will eradicate drugs and punish drug smugglers and mafia.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Friday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the traditional political parties like Congress, Akali Dal Badal and Bhartiya Janata Party have always taken decisions against public sentiment. Traditional parties have been forming governments by promising to eradicate drugs, but after forming a government, they have been manipulating the lives and feelings of the people by patronizing the drug mafia. He said that village Kaljharani was a famous village of Bathinda district and former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had been claiming development of Bathinda district. Parkash Singh Badal, who has been the Chief Minister of Punjab for nearly 20 years, has not been able to eradicate the drug menace from his area, forcing the residents of village Kaljharani to take action against the drug smugglers at their own level.
Harpal Singh Cheema said that Congress party leaders under the leadership of Capt. Amarinder Singh had taken sacred oath to break the backbone of drug menace in Punjab. He said that drug menace was rampant in Punjab due to collusion and patronage of traditional parties with drug smugglers and due to political interference in Punjab police. Due to this the people of Punjab like village Kaljharani have announced to take law into their own hands to save their youth.
Cheema appealed to the people of Punjab including village Kaljharani to have faith in the law and refrain from taking any such action on their own. He assured that with the formation of Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, the drug mafia would be eradicated and stern action would be taken against the political leaders and police officers who were patronizing the drug mafia.
