Mohali : “Cong government in Punjab has delivered what it had promised and. In its 5 years rule in Punjab, the Congress government has fulfilled most of its promises. No such work was there that the Congress government had not done. The party will fill whatever blanks were left after returning to power in Punjab again,”
While stating this during his election campaign on Wednesday, former Punjab Minister and Congress Mohali candidate, Balbir Sidhu said that Congress government has waived-off Rs. 1600 cr of electricity bills and around Rs. 1200 cr of water bills were also waived-off.
He further said that the electricity rates were reduced by Rs. 3 per unit. The PPAs that were signed during the Akali government have been terminated. The pension has been fixed at Rs. 1500 and the debt of Rs. around 4700 cr was also waived-off, he said.
The monthly allowances of midday workers was increased to Rs. 3000 per month, fuels rates reduced, Rs 3,100 was given as special assistance for 3.7 lakh construction workers, DA was increased by 11% for staff and pensioners and 6th pay panel was also being implemented. The 14000 state schools were converted into smart schools and 229 schools were upgraded on different levels, Sidhu asserted.
He said,” My constituency problems are my problems. Being MLA of Mohali I didn’t differentiate whether one was a supporter of Congress party or any other opposition parties. For me all Mohali people are my family.”
Lashing out on AAP propaganda on ‘this time one chance’ he said that why Punjab people should give them a chance. Punjabis don’t require a flopped Delhi model. AAP is trying to make Punjabi fools by making fake claims and commitments merely to win the elections. But AAP Delhi leadership doesn’t know that Punjabis are not going to induce with such fake claims, asserted Sidhu.
