Chandigarh Pradesh Congress today organised a massive protest to oppose the recent example of an anti – Democracy act of the BJP has been the arbitrary suspension of 145 MPs belonging to the opposition parties from the Parliament just for raising questions of National security.
While those who illegally intruded into the Lok Sabha have been booked under UAPA but the BJP leader and MP, who invited them into the Parliament has been left scot free without any probe into his role.
The party demanded an impartial high level enquiry to unearth the deep rooted conspiracy leading to the recent breach of the security of the Parliament. In order to hide its failure, the BJP is now stifling the voice of the joint opposition just for demanding a statement by the Union Home Minister.
Rajiv Sharma, spokesperson of Chandigarh Congress further stated in a press release issued here that more than 100 Congress activists including party president H.S. Lucky were arrested by the police and taken to Police Station sector 39. Earlier in the day, hundreds of the protesters wearing black dresses gathered at in the morning today at Congress Bhawan sector 35 chandigarh and began marching towards the BJP office.
The agitated Congressmen carrying black flags and placard vociferously raised anti BJP slogans on the way. The congressmen also released black balloons in the air to protest against the autocratic approach of the Union Home Minister, who is on a visit to the city today.
A large contingent of Chandigarh police and Rapid Action Force heavily barricaded the route towards the BJP office to stop the protestors. H.S. Lucky President Chandigarh Pradesh Congress while addressing the protestors said that the Democracy earned due to the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters is in grave danger due to the dictatorial and divisive policies of the BJP. He alleged that Amit Shah as Home Minister is responsible for the breach of security of the Parliament but no action is being taken to fix the responsibility.
He further said that the party workers were protesting peacefully and black flags were symbolically shown to Union Home Minister as a mark of protest against against him to coincide with his visit to the city today, but the Police used excessive force to arrest them. A few Congress workers sustained minor injuries in the process.
Mahila Congress activists led by its President Deipa Dubey and Youth Congress workers under Manoj Lubana and NSUI workers led by Sachin Galav also joined the protest in large numbers.
Among those who were arrested by the Police included former Mayors Surinder singh, Kamlesh, Gurcharan Das Kala, H.C Kalyan, councillors Gurpreet Gabi, Taruna Mehta , Jasbir Bunty and Sachin Galav, District Congress presidents Surjit dhillon, Parveen Narang Bunty, Ravi Thakur and senior leaders Bhupinder Badheri, Ache lal Gaur Barinder Rawat, Yadvinder mehta, Naseeb Jakhar, Bhajan Kaur, Manoj Lobana, Deepa dubey, Sanjay Bhajni, Satbir Singh Sangwan, Harmail Kesri, Sadiq Mohammad,S A Khan, Sonia, Gurcharan Singh, Anand Walia, Rahul Rai, sonia jaiswal, Bhajn kaur, Balwinder Kaur, Dharmvir, rajdeep sidhu , Mukesh Rai, Manish Lamba, Victor Sidhu, Ram Kumar, Devinder Gupta, Ashok kumar, Sarabjit Kaur, Sunita Devi, Anju Sodhi, harish kumar , Parmod Kumar and Luv kumar among others.
