In a statement, Chugh said the scandal involved more than Rs 300 crores which the Amarinder Singh government bungled making the SC students run from door to door for relief. He said instead of instituting a fair inquiry into the scandal Chief Minister Amarinder Singh sought to protect his cabinet colleague who had engineered the scandal.

“Instead of initiating a vigilance inquiry or a judicial probe the Amarinder Singh government gave a clean chit to the cabinet minister demonstrating its callous insensitivity to the needs and demands of the SC students”, Chugh said.

He said the BJP had been highlighting the matter for the last six months but the chief minister seemed determined to bury the scam under the carpet. Chugh hoped that the CBI investigation would bring the guilty persons to book and provide relief to the SC students.
