The seventh day of the ongoing Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan at Tagore Theatre witnessed a remarkable vocal recital besides a captivating jugalbandi of Tabla by extremely talented artists of the evening Dr. Mohan Darekar , Sh. Abhishek Mishra and Sh. Shubh Maharaj. Kendra Registrar Dr Shobha Koser and Secretary Sh. Sajal Koser , eminent Tabla Guru Pt. Sushil Jain , Prof. Harvinder Singh were also present on the occasion.
Today’s program started with a gorgeous Raag Dhani by Dr. Mohan Darekar. After reposeful traditional alap he presented a charismatic bandish “bamna bicharoge kab ghar aaye more piya ” in vilambit ek taal. He maintained his magical flow with his next bandish set to Madhya laya “Mandila bajo re baje“ in his appealing voice. After this he moved on to present fast tempo crisp bandish “ more sar se larak gayi gagri “ followed by another rupak taal bandish adorned with raag Bhinn Sharaj He gave a befitted finale to his recital with spell bound Mishra jogiya with beautiful bols “more angana kaaga bole “was well received by the local musical fraternity and music lovers of tricity. Pt. Vinod Lele on Tabla and Dr. Tarun Joshi on Harmonium provided a radiant accompaniment to the concert,
After this , illustrious Tabla exponents Abhishek Mishra and Shubh Maharaj of Banaras Gharana took the centre stage Duo made an impressive display of unique rhythmic patterns. They presented special classics of the Banaras Tabla gharana before the detailed delineation of specialized technique and performances of the star performers of the famous gharanas of Tabla sticking to only teen tal with rela kaida uthan , gats , fard etc.. Abhishek and Shubh won applause for every move on the stage. Eminent harmonium exponent Sh. Rajendra Banerjee and talented Sarangi player Vinayak Sahay provided admirable accompaniment with the duo.
