S.A.S Nagar: Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjit Singh Jiti Sidhu campaigned in phase 1 in favor of Congress candidate from Mohali Assembly constituency former Health Minister and MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu. Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi was specially present on the occasion.
Speaking in the meetings, Mayor Jiti Sidhu said that different candidates in Mohali were trying to divide the people in caste and religion while Congress was the only party which respects all classes and religions and castes. He said that congress party contest elections on the agenda of collective development. He said that whether it was Bharatiya Janata Party or Aam Aadmi Party, they were both in the same boat of communalism. He said that no one has forgotten the disrespect of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari when it comes to Akali Dal.
He said that the sole objective of the Bharatiya Janata Party was to polarise the people of Hindu religion no matter how much communal hatred was spread it did not matter to the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that BJP did not know that the people of Punjab and especially Mohali were educated and intelligent and they were not going to fall into this trap of BJP. He said that similarly the agenda of Aam Aadmi Party was similar to that of Bharatiya Janata Party and its aim was to seize power. He said that if this party had stood for the public interest, it would not have given ticket to a self-interested businessman like Kulwant Singh who joined the party a day ago. He said that the residents of Sectors 82 and 90-91 of colonizer Kulwant Singh were a proof of how much pressure Kulwant Singh had inflicted on the residents. He said that Aam Aadmi Party candidate was playing politics of a particular caste but his agenda of creating social division would not succeed.
He said that Mohali Municipal Corporation under the leadership of Congress MLA and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu had not discriminated against anyone and had made efforts for the collective development of Mohali as a whole. More than 100 crore development works are underway. He said that the people of Mohali had decided that there was no need for any communal agenda for them but they wanted development and for this they wanted to elect the constituency MLA and former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu by a record margin.
In these meetings the people of the area raised their hands and declared the victory of MLA Balbir Singh Sidhu by a huge margin and said that this time the victory of Balbir Singh Sidhu would be with more votes than last time.
On this occasion Harpreet Singh Deputy, Tinka Walia, Neelam Rani, Manjit Kaur, Sandeep, Pradeep Nawab, Mamta, Renu Tandon, Jagmohan Walia, Bhavdeep, Simran, Channi, Shakuntala, Lakshmi, Preeti Jaswinder Kaur, Kunal, Sonu, Pranav, Kirat, Aman and other area residents and dignitaries were present.
