A Symphony of Theatre, Music and Drama entrances the audience at Bhavan Vidyalaya Chandigarh
Chandigarh, 18th October 2023- The third day of the 2nd Art & Cultural Fest’23 being organized by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Infosys Foundation and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra, was a majestic show of cultural brilliance.
Ms Manraj Grewal Sharma, Resident Editor, Indian Express, was the Chief Guest for the day. The Guests of Honour General Ved Prakash Malik PVSM, AVSM, Former Chief of Army Staff, Dr. Ranjana Malik, Sh. R. K. Saboo Chairman, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, Ms. Nagalakshmi Rao, member, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Bengaluru Kendra, Sh. Manmohan Singh Kohli, Chairman Cultural Committee, and Sh. Madhukar Malhotra, Honorary Secretary, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh Kendra, along with other luminaries from the Tricity graced the occasion with their presence.
The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest,Ms. Manraj Grewal Sharma, followed by a surreal instrumental fusion performance ‘Beats& Strings’ by Punjab Gharana tabla player and multi-instrumentalist Mr. Hitesh Giri, and talented flamenco guitarist Mr. Gagneet Singh.
The scintillating theatrical presentation “Durga Pooja at Chatterjees” by Ms. Nisha Luthra, Founder Director of the Narrators Performing Art Society India, was a stimulating play deftly portraying the ethos of universal camaraderie through the dramatic narrative woven around the protagonist, Mrs. Chatterjee and her family. The playechoed the theme of the fest ‘The World is One Family’.
The Art Exhibition garnered significant acclaim from mesmerised attendees as they were seen spellbound by the artworks, carefully observing each curated masterpiece.
Ms. Manraj Grewal Sharma congratulated the performers as well as the organizers for the excellent show and praised the efforts of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and Infosys Foundation for promoting cultural art forms. She felicitated the artists and applauded their unique talents.
The multitude of spectators that surged on day 3, was enraptured by the artistic oeuvres of the gifted performers.
The 2nd Art and Cultural Fest will continue till the 22nd of October, 2023 with different performances every day. The programme of each day is being telecast live on the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chandigarh and Bengaluru YouTube channels. Entry is free for the general public on all days.
