Seminar on fire safety for senior citizens marks fire safety week

Chandigarh : In continuation of events to commemorate Fire Service Week, Fire & Security Association of India (FSAI) Chandigarh Chapter organized a Seminar on Fire Safety for Senior Citizens at Press Club Sector 27 Chandigarh.

Jasjot Singh Almast, President FSAI Chandigarh Chapter stated that the event was aimed to raise awareness among senior citizens regarding measures to be taken during an emergency situation. He lauded the efforts of Lovleen Kaur, President Senior Citizens Association Sector 27 Chandigarh, for selfless service towards society.

Chief Guest Vijay Kumar Sharma, President ISHRAE Chandigarh Chapter, advised all to be aware of their surroundings such as number of exists and placement of fire extinguishers, wherever they go. Surinder Bahga, a renowned Architect and Guest of Honour discussed the evacuation procedures and importance of fire drills.

Jasjeet Suri, Marine Faculty, Chitkara School of Maritime Studies was the keynote speaker on the occasion. He explained the use of the Fire Extinguisher to the senior citizens. He advised that alarm should be raised during a fire situation before trying to extinguish it so that outside help can be received and everyone trigger their fight-flight mode to tackle the emergency.

Gursimran Kaur, Secretary FSAI Chandigarh Chapter presented the vote of thanks. Vinod Kumar member Core Working Committee, FSAI Chandigarh Chapter graced the occasion with his presence.
