Dhinda’s ton helped UT boys to pile up 390/9 against host Tripura

Chandigarh: A brilliant century from Chiragvir Dhindsa (130) helped Chandigarh to pile up a mammoth 390/9 against the hosts Tripurat on the opening day of the Col CK Nayudu trophy match being played at Agartala on Sunday.

Earlier, Tripura won the toss and invited UT boys to bat first. Opening pair of Arnav Bansal and Nehal Pajni gave a stable start with a 51 runs partnership before the previous one was sent back at his personal score of 26. Panjni joined in with skipper Arjun Azad who made another sensible partnership of 52 runs. Nehal went back after scoring 35 runs. Later Nipun Sharda (16) went cheaply leaving the side at 146/3. Danger looking Arjun Azad  lost his wicket in the very next over. His innings of 57 runs off 56 balls were as well studded with six boundaries and three sixes. With the departure of Gurtaj Singh Bains (18), UT lost half of his side at 183 runs. Batting patiently Chiragveer Dhindsa, boosted the team by stitching a 95 runs with new batter Gagan Verma. Wicketkeeper batter Verma was out after scoring 37 runs with 278/6 on the board. Dhindsa, meanwhile not only completed his century but also proved vital in yet another 106 run partnership with Neel Dhaliwal.  The valiant knock of Dhindsa ended in 82nd over. He smashed 16 boundaries and two sixes for his knock of 130. Soon, Amit Shukla (2) went cheaply while Neel added 47 runs. Chandigarh declared its inning 390/9 in 85.5 overs. In reply Tripura scored 5/0 before the stumps were drawn.
