CYC President, Manoj Lubana, Undertakes Silent Protest Against Governor’s Silence

Chandigarh: Despite repeated efforts by Manoj Lubana, President of the Chandigarh Youth Congress, to engage with Shri Banwarilal Purohit, the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator of Chandigarh, on pressing issues affecting the residents of Chandigarh, a deafening silence has emanated from the Governor’s office.

Mr. Lubana wrote four letters on the 6th, 9th, 12th, and 13th of December, seeking to discuss critical matters concerning the people of Chandigarh. However, to date, there has been no response from Shri Banwarilal Purohit.

In a symbolic and resolute act, Manoj Lubana has initiated a vow of silence as a form of protest against the Governor’s silence. Lubana’s demands echo the aspirations and concerns of the citizens of Chandigarh, including:

  1. 85% Reservation in Jobs for Youth in Chandigarh.
  2. Increase in Pension for Old, Disabled, and Widows.
  3. End of the ‘Lal Dora’ System.
  4. Reduction in house tax.
  5. Implementation of the old pension scheme.
  6. Jobs for those who win medals for Chandigarh in the field of sports.
  7. Basic facilities should be the same in both colonies and sectors of Chandigarh.
  8. Provision of menstrual leave in schools, colleges, and offices in Chandigarh.

He said, “For too long, the voices of the people of Chandigarh have fallen on deaf ears. My commitment to their welfare is unwavering, and it is disheartening that our pleas for dialogue have gone unanswered. In the silence of the authorities, I choose the powerful language of peaceful protest. I sit in silence, not out of defiance, but as a symbol of the unheard voices longing for justice and representation. It is my hope that this symbolic act resonates and sparks a meaningful conversation for the betterment of Chandigarh and its citizens.”

Manoj Lubana has tirelessly advocated for these issues over an extended period, yet the lack of response from the Governor’s office has compelled him to take this non-violent yet impactful stance.

The Chandigarh Youth Congress calls upon the Hon’ble Governor to heed the concerns of the people, engage in dialogue, and address the legitimate demands put forth by its President, Manoj Lubana, for the overall welfare of Chandigarh and its residents.
