JAI INDER KAUR VISITS TOMATO FARMERS OF SANAUR AFFECTED BY BLIGHT ATTACK

MP PATIALA PRENEET KAUR ALSO WRITES TO CM BHAGWANT MANN DEMANDING COMPENSATION FOR FARMERS

Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha President Jai Inder Kaur today visited the blight affected tomato farmers of village Fatehpur Rajputa of Patiala’s Sanaur and heard their grievances.

Around 11 villages of Patiala District’s Sanaur harvest Tomato crop in nearly 1000 acres of land, which has faced huge damages due to the late blight attack.

Talking to the media after meeting the farmers Jai Inder Kaur said, “It’s very saddening to see how the crops of our hardworking farmers have been destroyed due to this late blight attack. The Punjab government has been promoting crop diversification to save Punjab’s waters and Punjab’s land from going barren. And now it’s the government’s duty to provide them with proper compensation to support them.”

The BJP member further said, “Due to this fungal attack the farmers and the farm labourers of the area have suffered a huge pecuniary loss, as such there is a necessity for harvest inspection and Girdawari. So I urge CM Bhagwant Mann to immediately order Girdawari and provide proper compensation to these farmers.”

She further informed that the Member Parliament from Patiala Smt. Preneet Kaur has also written a letter to the Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann demanding immediate compensation for these farmers.
