SAS Nagar:
Following the directions of Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia, Judge, Punjab & Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar and under the guidance of Harpal Singh, District & Sessions Judge, awareness programmes at Central Jail, Patiala and District Jail, Rupnagar were organized by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar through its Panel Lawyers on the occasion of Human Rights day.
The inmates were made aware about their right to free legal aid as per Section 12 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987 during trial as well as at appellate stage, rights of arrested person, concept of plea-bargaining, pre-mature release and Legal Aid Defense Counsel System.
