Chandigarh: A blood donation camp was jointly organized by Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, Vishwas Foundation Panchkula and HDFC Bank at Gate No. 4 High Court premises. Indian Red Cross Society UT Chandigarh and Punjab State played an important role in this blood donation camp. The camp started at 10:00 am and continued till 3:30 pm. The team of Blood Bank PGI Chandigarh collected 103 units of blood under the supervision of Dr. Rekha and Dr. Ekta. 121 donors registered to donate blood in the camp, 18 were refused to donate blood due to health-related problems.

Sadhvi Neelima Vishwas, President of Vishwas Foundation, said that the camp was inaugurated by GBS Dhilon, President of Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, by lighting the lamp and presenting badges to the blood donors. On this occasion, special guests High Court Bar Association office bearer Dinesh Kumar Jangra Vice President, Jasmeet Singh Bhatia Honorary, Chanchal K Singla Former Honorary Secretary, Nimrata Kaur Joint Secretary, Baljeet Beniwal and other distinguished guests were present with him. In the camp, Poonam Malik, Senior Assistant of Red Cross UT Chandigarh, encouraged the blood donors and Sushil Kumar Tank Training Supervisor motivated them to participate enthusiastically to deal with the shortage of blood.

GBS Dhillon, President said that there is a misconception among people that donating blood causes weakness in the body. There is no weakness due to blood donation, rather everyone must donate blood once in 90 days. This helps the needy as well as keeps the body healthy. Blood donation is great donation and there is no substitute for blood nor can it be made artificially. A virtuous act like donating blood comes in the greatest service.

Chanchal Singla former Honorary Secretary said that earlier there were many misconceptions like weakness in the body and getting sick due to blood donation, but today these misconceptions have been dispelled and our youth are donating blood in large numbers. It is a matter of happiness that today our daughters are also not lagging behind boys in the matter of donating blood and themselves are coming forward and donating blood. Timely availability of blood can save priceless lives. If we can save someone’s life through blood donation, then there can be no greater favor than this.

Sadhvi Neelima Vishvas said that at the end of the camp, all the blood donors were honored by giving appreciation letters and gifts. On this occasion, Rishi Saral Vishvas, Shyam Sundar Sahni, Savita Sahni, Mulkharaj Manocha, Sunita Manocha and Manjula Gulati from Vishvas Foundation were present.
