Locals converge at the cultural program and traditional feast organized by Kerala Samajam,

Chandigarh: Aligned with its State Formation Day (November 1), the Kerala Samajam, with the help of its members, organized a cultural program and traditional feast at the Community Center, Sector 30 on Sunday wherein a massive participation was registered to understand the glimpse of God’s Own Country. According to Kerala Samajam’s President Arvinderaksham Pillai, the sole objective of celebrating Kerala Day on Sunday was to get more and more people involved so that they can come face to face with the vast and rich heritage, civilization and culture of the state of Kerala.

Mayor Anup Gupta, who was invited as the chief guest praised the efforts of the organizers and described this effort of Kerala Samajam to connect South India with North India as meaningful. Income Tax Commissioner N Jai Shankar (IRS) and Rishi Raj Singh (IPS Kerala Cadre) were special invitees. Nearly 60 artists of Vishnu Priyam Natyam, who presented before the foreign representatives of G20 at Bharat Mandapam, received a lot of applause from the cultural program which lasted for about two hours. These cultural programs included mythological drama performances to modern fusion dance.

Along with Kathakali, folk dances like Ottantulal, Opanna, Margam Kali, Thiruvathavadara and other forms of folk dances. enthralled the audience. Later, traditional Kerala feast was served wherein more than 16 dishes including Sambar, Rasam, Kalan, Pachari, Avial, Olan, Toran, Pal Paysan, Pradama. were served along with local rice on banana leaves. These dishes were prepared by chefs invited from Alleppey with the help of local members. Kerala Samajam expressed satisfaction over the program and assured such events for the local people.
