Adequate stubble management machinery available in the district
Environmental compensation of Rs 65 thousand was imposed in 24 cases of fire incidents
Visits Villages near Banur to boost the farmers handling stubble by CRM machinery

Deputy Commissioner Mrs Ashika Jain today visited the villages near Banur and encouraged the farmers who have been handling stubble through Crop Residue Management machinery.
He also appealed to the rest of the farmers of the district that they should not burn the stubble and handle it mechanically in the interest of humanity.
Interacting with the farmers and baler operators at Villages Budhanpur, Basma and Khalawar, who were handling stubble through stubble management machines in the fields, she said that the district administration is committed to not let the farmers face any shortage of machinery. She said that in this regard, a Dedicated Control Room-cum-Help line 0172-2219505 and 2219506 has been established at the district level, by contacting the farmers to take advantage of the machinery available near them.
She said that the farmers who are helping in protecting the environment by honouring the appeal of the Punjab Government not to burn the stubble, they are being honored as friends of the environment especially in the villages.
The Deputy Commissioner said there are 1098 stubble handling machines in the district. This time the Panchayats and Co-operative Societies of the district have also been encouraged to get more and more stubble management machinery so that the maximum number of people can benefit from the machinery available with the local level institutions in the villages.
She told the farmers of the district that those who are playing with nature and flora and fauna by setting the stubble on fire, they will surely regret their non-humanitarian approach one day. She said that the Guru Sahibs have also inspired us to respect nature by giving the sacred status of air as Guru, water as father and earth as mother in Holy Gurbani and we should respect the order of Guru Sahib and refrain from setting fire to stubble.
Earlier, she held a meeting with all the officers of the district and took stock of the cases of stubble burning and asked them to collect compensation for environmental damage from the farmers who set stubble on fire and to make a red entry in their revenue records. She said that so far in 24 cases of stubble burning in the district, environmental compensation of Rs 65 thousand has been given to the farm owners.
She also instructed the nodal officers to do their duty diligently without any slackness, in the villages to stop burning of stubble and asked the SDM Mohali Chandrajyoti Singh to take action against the two nodal officers who were found dereliction of their duty during today’s visit.
