MY WORDS WERE WARNING TO THOSE WHO HARASS COMMON PEOPLE: SPEAKER

APOLOGISES IF IT HAS HURT SENTIMENTS OF ANYONE

Chandigarh :

Reiterating the firm commitment of state government to safeguard the interests of every section of society, the Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Sunday said that he had used harsh words for those who harass people and not for everyone.

In a statement issued here today, the Speaker said that in a civilised society no one can be allowed to take law in their hands. Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that he had merely warned the violators of rules that strict action will be taken against them. He said that there was no ulterior motive of his warning rather it aimed at safeguarding the interests of the general public.

The Speaker said that some people with vested interests are giving undue hype to his words. He said that the warning was aimed at those who were unduly harassing the people. He said that the harsh language had to be used just to secure rights of people adding that he apologises if it has hurt the sentiments of anyone.
