Chandigarh Lambardar Union Hails Honorarium Hike, Announces Key Appointments

DPB, Chandigarh: In a significant development, the Chandigarh Lambardar Union has welcomed the increase in honorarium for village lambardars, thanking the Chandigarh Administration and Punjab Governor-cum-UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria for approving the long-pending demand.

Union President Rajinder Singh Badheri said the revision, aligned with the Punjab pattern, had been awaited for years and has now been implemented, with the enhanced payments already disbursed. He also noted that the administration has initiated appointments in villages where positions had fallen vacant due to the demise of incumbents.

On humanitarian grounds, elderly lambardars Bachittar Singh of Hallomajra and Gurbachan Singh of Behlana were relieved of their duties following requests citing ill health. Subsequently, the administration appointed Kaptaan Singh, son of late Kesar Singh, and Amrik Singh, son of Gurbachan Singh, as lambardars of Hallomajra and Behlana, respectively. Identity cards have also been issued to the newly appointed officials.

Strengthening the union’s organizational structure, Dr. Amanjot Kaur, lambardar of Buterla, has been appointed as Office Secretary, while Kaptaan Singh has been given additional responsibility as Coordination Secretary.

Filling the vacant post of Vice President, Chaudhary Jai Prakash, lambardar of Dadu Majra, has been appointed to the position.

Badheri stated, “The decisions will not only boost morale but also improve administrative efficiency at the grassroots level.”
