Mohali Village Heritage Gets New Recognition”

– Mayor Jeeti Sidhu inaugurates welcome gate, makes major development claims

Mohali: The Mayor of Mohali Municipal Corporation, Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, today inaugurated the construction of a city welcome gate in Mohali village. On this occasion, he not only spoke about the importance of this project but also reiterated his commitment to the development of both the city and the village.

During the inauguration ceremony, Mayor Jeeti Sidhu said that the city of Mohali originated from Mohali village and that the village holds a very proud history. He stated that a globally recognized city like Mohali was built on the land of this village, but unfortunately, the village has not received the respect it deserves.

He said, “Through this welcome gate, we have tried to preserve the identity of this historic village, so that every person passing through—whether a child, youth, or elderly—knows that this is the land from which a major city like Mohali was born.”

The Mayor informed that approximately ₹12 lakh has been spent on the construction of this gate. He added that it is not just a structure, but a symbol of Mohali village’s heritage and true identity. He also mentioned that more such projects will be introduced in the future to showcase the city’s history and culture.

On this occasion, he also targeted the Aam Aadmi Party government, alleging that obstacles are being created in the work of the Congress-led Municipal Corporation. He said, “Even though the government is creating hurdles in our work, I and all my councillors remain fully committed to serving the people and ensuring development.”

He further alleged that the current government is selling valuable land in Mohali to manage its expenses, while neglecting the development of the villages that contributed this land. He said Mohali village has made a great sacrifice but continues to be overlooked.

Speaking about the city’s development, Mayor Jeeti Sidhu said that several plans have been prepared to make Mohali a modern and well-equipped city. Work is ongoing on road repairs, sanitation systems, water supply, and new infrastructure projects.

He added, “Mohali village still faces many basic issues that require crores of rupees to resolve. When the Congress party comes to power, we will address all these issues on priority and strive to bring the village on par with the city.”

In conclusion, he assured the public that balanced development will be ensured across all areas of Mohali—whether urban or rural—and no discrimination will be allowed.
