Compared to other photographers, the work of photojournalists is highly challenging: Sanjay Tandon

Chandigarh:- On World Photography Day, BJP National Executive Member and Himachal Pradesh Co-Incharge Sanjay Tandon attended as the chief guest at the photography exhibition held at Punjab Kala Bhawan in Sector 16. He observed the displayed photographs, interacted with press photographers, praised their work, and presented participation certificates.

He also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to senior press photographers Pramod Pushkarna and Anil Puri. Tandon commended the creative and extraordinary images exhibited by the photojournalists and club members.

He noted that the art of photography captures emotions and precious moments, turning them into memories that last for centuries. A photograph is a memorable moment that cannot be relived in life but can be experienced through the photo. Photography is quite challenging, as photographers often have to take risks to capture excellent images. However, those risks become rewarding when positive messages reach society through photographs.

He urged photographers to raise awareness and address social issues through their photos, as they hold a special place in society and have the power to connect us with our past, future, and nature.

He remarked on the significant changes in photography over time. While photography has become easier in the current era, there is a vast difference between selfies and professional photography. Photographers capture memorable moments and emotions, whereas selfies are merely recreational.

Present at the event were Club President Nalin Acharya, Umesh Sharma, Ramesh Handa, Ajay Jalandhari, Deepender Thakur, Ankush Mahajan, Photojournalist Committee Chairman Upendra Sengupta, Jaswinder Jassi, along with several renowned journalists and press photographers.

Notably, the exhibition showcased over 150 photographs from more than 60 talented press photographers, highlighting their creative vision and skill. On August 19, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema inaugurated the exhibition and honored senior photographers Sanjeev Sharma, Rajneesh Katyal, and Ajay Verma with awards. T.S. Bedi, R.P. Sharma, Karam Singh, Swadesh Talwar, Pravesh Chauhan, Manoj Mahajan, and Jaipal Singh were also recognized with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to photography.”
