District Ujjwala Committee Meets for Monitoring of Distribution in District
S.A.S Nagar : A meeting following the directions of the DC Mohali, Mrs. Aashika Jain was convened to spearhead the launching of 75 lakh new gas connections under Pradan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna 2.0, a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at transforming the lives of females through clean and affordable cooking fuel.
During the meeting, District Ujjwala Committe was formed which will be headed by ADC (UD) Damanjit Singh Mann and directions for monitoring the status of PMUY applications were disbursed to the Sales Officers of all Oil Marketing Companies.
The Ujjwala Gas Connections scheme has been a resounding success, touching the lives of millions by providing LPG connections to BPL (Below Poverty Line) households and migrant workers. This initiative has not only improved air quality by reducing indoor air pollution but has also empowered women by freeing them from the drudgery of traditional cooking methods and the health hazards associated with them, said the ADC Damanjit Singh Mann.
Under the scheme, an adult woman belonging to BPL family of all SC/ST households, beneficiaries of PMAY (Gramin), Antyodaya Anna Yojna (AAY), forest dwellers and most backward classes (MBC) is an eligible beneficiary under the expanded scheme. Applicant must have attained 18 years of age. There should not be any other LPG connections in the same household.
Applicant can visit LPG distributors to apply for PMUY connections and can also apply online at www.PMUY.gov.in .
