AMRITSAR: The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India is organizing programs on the theme “Amrit Mahotsav of Independence” at various places across the country.
A three-day exhibition has been set up at the Town Hall Building, here today under the same series, the second day of which was attended by Malwinder Singh Jaggi, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation as the Chief Guest.
He said that such programs help in guiding the new cheese. He said that Punjabis have also made great sacrifices for the freedom of the country, so it was necessary to cherish their heritage while being proud of it.
The chief guest on the occasion was NCC. Cadets of 1st Battalion saluted. Not only that, the NCC Officers and cadets also performed from the stage and became the center of attraction for the people.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Gurmeet Singh, Field Publicity Officer, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that following the call of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Ministry was organizing photo exhibitions and other programs on the theme “Amrit Mahotsav of Independence” across the country. He said that the series of programs started in the month of March this year would end with a journey of 75 weeks.
Apart from the exhibition, children’s painting and song competitions were also organized on the occasion in which school children participated enthusiastically, after which 39 winning students were awarded prizes and certificates. In addition, the NCC Officials from the school and children from various schools were also honored. Praising the commitment of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the children said that such programs should be organized in future also so that the younger generation could be connected with the heritage. It may be mentioned that apart from the painting exhibition, the ministry is also organizing various competitions for school children.
Simultaneously, a Fit India Freedom Run was organized at 6.30 am, which started from the main gate of Guru Nanak Dev University to Chheharta Chowk. The race was flagged off by Sandeep Rishi, Additional Commissioner, Municipal Corporation.
