216 winners won prizes worth Rs 12.43 lakh by uploading bills at ‘Mera Bill’ in October- Harpal Singh Cheema

Taxation district of Ludhiana leads with 40 winners winning Rs 2,36,815

Chandigarh :

Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday said that 216 winners won prizes worth Rs 12,43,005 by uploading their purchase bills on “Mera Bill App” in the month of October 2023 under ‘Bill Liyao Inaam Pao’ scheme. He said the online lucky draw was conducted by the committee appointed by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government.

Disclosing this in a press communiqué issued here, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that among the winners, the highest number of 40 winners from Taxation district of Ludhiana won prizes worth Rs 2,36,815; while in the second place 22 winners were from Taxation district of Jalandhar won prizes worth Rs 1,34,550.

Cheema said that the response received by this scheme from different parts of the state is evident from the fact that 13 winners were from Taxation district of Amritsar, 10 from Taxation district of Sri Muktsar Sahib, 9 each from Taxation districts of Kapurthala, Moga, Pathankot, Rupnagar and Tarn Taran, 8 each from Taxation districts of Barnala, Mansa, Patiala and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 7 each from Taxation districts of Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Firozpur and Hoshiarpur, 6 from Taxation district of Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, and 5 each from Taxation districts of Faridkot, Fazilka, Gurdaspur and Sangrur.

The Finance minister said the sale bills of petroleum products (crude oil, petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel and natural gas) and liquor, bills related to purchases made outside Punjab, as well as B2B (business to business) transactions are not eligible for participation in this scheme. He said that the bills for purchases made in the month of October 2023 only were considered in the draw.

Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema appealed to the people of the state to get the bills for the purchase of every good and service, and participate in this scheme every month to win prizes to the tune of Rs 10,000. He said that it would help in conveying message of tax compliance at the grassroots level.
