Dawn Punjab Bureau / Chandigarh: Raising their voice against the rising inflation in the country, the lawyers under the banner of District Bar Association Mohali today staged a bicycle rally in protest in which lawyers from Mohali and Chandigarh along with other social workers participated.
The protest march started from District Court Mohali by raising slogans against the rising prices and entered District Court Chandigarh via Gurdwara Singh Shaheed Suhanan, YPS Chowk where the convoy was welcomed by the representatives of Bar Association Chandigarh. After that the bicycle rally with the members of Bar Association Chandigarh passed through Aroma Chowk and reached Kisan Bhawan Chowk Chandigarh where the lawyers protested against the rising prices against the government.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Manpreet Singh Chahal, President, District Bar Association, Mohali said that on the one hand every section of the society was suffering from Corona epidemic and continuous lockdown and on the other hand rising inflation was taking its toll on the masses. He said that with the pace at which petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices were going up in the country every day, it seemed that no government was working in the country.
In such an environment when every ordinary citizen is struggling for their livelihood in the corona crisis, the government is constantly adding salt to the wounds of the people by raising prices. He said that this cycle rally was organized by the lawyers community to protest against inflation and also to create awareness among the general public against inflation.
Speaking on the occasion, other spokespersons said that the rulers of the country were asleep at a time when the general public was suffering. He said there would be more protests in the coming days. Among others present on the occasion were Narpinder Singh Rangi, Sandeep Singh Lakha, Akshay Chetal, Secretary Zorawar Singh Sohi, Sanjeev Main, Vikas Sharma, Gagandeep Singh Sethi, Mandeep Singh, Davinder Mandiana, Gurdeep Singh, Iqbal Singh, Dheeraj Kaushal, Mahadev Singh, Deepinder Singh Malka, Sushil Attri, Jatinder Joshi, Snehpreet Singh, Hatinder Bedi and Gurpreet Singh, a large number of lawyers and others were present.
