Dawn Punjab Bureau / Chandigarh : Legal Cell of Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has strongly condemned the registration of false five cases in different police stations u/sections 148,149,186,188,332,341,353 and 427 IPC against farms leaders including Prem Singh Bhangu, social activists and singers. In this regard FIR no 117,118 at Police Station Sector 36, FIR no 94 and 95 at PS 17 and FIR 51 at PS sector 3 have been registered.
Prem Singh Bhangu ( Convener), Raminder Singh Patiala, Inderjit Singh, Vikas Sishar, Kiranjit Singh Sekhon and Dharmendr Malik, all members of Legal Cell said here in a joint statement that lodging FIR’s against all kisan leaders is complete highhandedness of Chandigarh police and administration who forcibly tried to foil the peaceful march for ‘Save Agriculture-Save Democracy Day’ by putting barricades on the road and using water canons. They said the peaceful protest is a fundamental and democratic right of the people which has been clearly ascertained by the Hon’ble Supreme Court and Delhi High Court in Disha Ravi and Natasha cases recently. The agitators were provoked by the police by using force in order to defame the agitation. Farmers didn’t indulge in any violent activity nor any public servant was deterred from discharging duty. Even there was no promulgation of section 144 made nor any poster was pasted anywhere in the city.
Legal Cell members that police flaunted all legal and constitutional norms and therefore its act of lodging cases is totally illegal, undemocratic and unconstitutional. The Panel will look after all the cases and they have demanded the immediate withdrawal of these false cases .Today a press conference was held in this regard in which Jangveer Singh Chauhan,Mukesh Chander, Kuldip Singh Wajidpur, Kanwaljeet Singh, Vipin Kumar, advocate and Nachattar Singh Baidwan were present.
